Liposuction is a popular procedure for areas of fat that are difficult to remove. Liposculpture refers to the method in which the areas of fat removal are blended with adjacent regions in an anatomically appropriate way. The patient is required to wear compressive garments for 6 weeks after liposuction to achieve optimum results.

It is important not to remove fat too close to the dermis to decrease the likelihood of visible irregularities.

		Some people advertise “scarless liposuction”. There is no such thing! Any time a cannula penetrates the dermis a scar is formed although in most cases this is difficult to detect.
